German winter thyme Perennial medicinal and aromatic herb grows as a 30 - 40 cm high, evergreen subshrub. Indispensable, tart, aromatic herb for Mediterranean cuisine. Fresh or dried used for an effective cough tea. Prefers light, calcareous, dry soils. Heavier surfaces must not be too wet. Very drought tolerant.
